As you know, the more I get into fitness the less I care about what I weigh and the more I care about what kind of cool shit I can do with my body. One of the things I've always wanted to be good at is yoga. I first tried it in highschool but didn't stick with it because it was discouraging how many of the poses I couldn't do. Child's pose, the easiest pose on earth, was early impossible. When I'd learn forward my big belly would force my back to curve like a snail rather than lay flat. In INSANITY Shaun T makes you do child's pose a lot. That's how I discovered that I could now finally do child's pose- and I became inspired to get better at yoga.
My Internet idol, antionette (siren0616 on IG) recently started posting some yoga poses she was seeing on another Instagram account- @laurasykora. She is amazing at yoga. So strong and flexible. Like antionette- her man and her kids work out with her. I'm beginning to realize the most fit people come from fit families. It's so much easier to be fit when it's part of your life naturally- which is why when I have kids, they'll be raised in a fit family.
Anyways, Laura does this thing #yogainspace where she posts cool poses and everyone tries them and hash tags so we can all check it out. I decided to give it a try. I suck. But I'm so driven to do better! Soon enough ill be doing handstands and all that! Besides being able to take pictures of yourself doing cool shit, yoga forces a lot of self control. A lot of it has more to do with your mind than strength. Major core strength is required as well as flexibility. I've realized that my back is super strong. A lot of the poses I can do are because of my back- not my abs. I'm working on paying attention to where the work is being done so I can correct that. It's a whole lot harder than it looks. I encourage you all to try!
I don't remember the name is most of these poses, but figured I'd share some yoga with ya! The woman that is not me is Laura.
