Ok, so I get no awards for best dieter ever lately. I was out of town for over a week around thanksgiving. i didnt do terrible by any means but i was not on track like i have been in the past. i have only weighed myself once in the past month. said i was up one pound. since my goal that month was to try to maintain a weight i was not upset. i think up one pound i pretty good maintaining. my exercise has been crap so I know if i had worked out more consistently I wouldve probably stayed the same.
while I was in MA i ate a lot of salad & vegetarian chili (my mom always makes a batch for me). My mom even made a lot of weight watcher recipes for thanksgiving- we're all eating better so no one opposed... my sisters husband prob couldve passed it up but we've helped him put on a little weight so we might as well help take it off lol i ate at the cheesecake factory one night. I ordered a veggie burger off their skinnilicious menu, it came with a salad. however i ate a peice of pumpkin cheesecake for desert. When i was in New York I ate a slice of real new york pizza. Just one slice though. through that little trip I also ate half of a grilled veggie panini, a 6" veggie patty sub(no cheese) & kettle cooked chips from subway, a veggie salad from chipotle- split chips and salsa with my brother, a light & fit yogurt and small rye bagel from the continental breakfast. I'm actually pretty proud of my food decisions in new york. however i got back to mass lol i had dinner with the girls from my cosmo shop and it happened to be kim's (my friend i took a pic in my skirt with) birthday. we each brought a dish and it wasnt terrible at all. there were veggies & hummus, tuna salad rolls, no egg no oil muffins, antipasto(i didnt eat the meat), wings(i didnt eat). However kims favoriiiite food is icecream cake. so i bought her a carvel cake. and i did enjoy a slice with everyone else. i ate great the rest of my trip until the last day, when i went to lunch with my best friend and her husband. I had a crab patty melt (minus the cheese & mayo) on wheat bread- and a side of home made onion rings. Im trying to figure out how to eat like a regular person- and regular people eat onion rings every now and then! i dont think this trip was a fail, but it was nothing compared to the trips where ive counted calories and tracked every morsel and came home 3lbs lighter. Mom and I finished the 5k on thanksgiving morning in 37 minutes. it was 38 degrees out and I almost threw up lol my sweatshirt was soaked with sweat yet i was freeeeeeezing. my body was just screwed up. i was proud of us though!!
since i got back to FL though, its been a different story. ive been back 5 days and have yet to exercise- besides parking on 6th floor and taking the stairs at work. i ate a small cheese pizza by myself, twice. I drank a small gingerbread milkshake. i ate 3 funsize bags of peanut M&Ms at work the other day. no bueno. the one good thing i did start since coming back is juicing though. my friend alycia gave me a juicer she doesnt use and im in love! i tried the "mean green" that the dude in "fat sick & nearly dead" drinks and hated it. the measurements for ginger just said "a piece". so i picked a small piece and it was still all i could taste. disguuuusting. im going to retry without the ginger. i did make an apple carrot juice that is to die for though. and i also added cucumber another time and it was good. i have some beets to throw in the mix too. i am not ready for a juice cleanse just yet but i would really like to juice for a week straight at some point. the guy from fat sick & nearly dead recommends a 7-10 day reboot every other month. i think thats reasonable. i want to start drinking atleast one glass of fresh juice every day. raw vegetables are the most nutrient and i dont get enough of them, im sure.
so for some inspiration to get back on track eating i took a trip to whole foods today. I was in no rush and really looked. I havent ever done that, im usually in there with a list of ingredients i cant find at the super market for specific recipes and out as soon as i find it. it is a little overwhelming in there! i discovered some great shit today though. a new brand of vegan cream cheese i havent tried. I also go PUMPKIN SPICE hummus! it tastes like pumpkin pie. i ate it on melba toast ( little toast like crackers, all natural with no eggs or dairy). i also got some red pepper hummus made right near me in Boca Raton, local is always a good thing people! less preservatives needed to keep it fresh during travel. i got some quinoa (pronounced keen-wah) because i have a ton of recipes containing it but ive never been able to find it in publix or walmart. i also got some shirataki noodles made out of yam flour instead of tofu. they are ZERO calroies and have 3 ingredients. i cannot waiiit to try them. I got some firm tofu and tempeh because i really want to try to go 100% organic vegan for the new year. i have pimples since moving to FL and i have a painful ulcer in my eye- the medicine for treatment however, is destroying my vision. if eating vegan and organic can cure cancer it should take care of acne and an ulcer no problem. so im doing it for my new years resolution- at least 6 months. if it changes my life ill stick with it. if not then back to vegetarian for me.
anyways, back to whole foods. I got a natural BBQ sauce because i loooove bbq but its so bad for me. sweet baby rays makes my knees weak, but seeing high fructose corn syrup as the 2nd ingredient makes my stomach weak. ill let you know how this tastes. i also got some raw cashews. my vegan yoga instructor client was saying if you eat a handful of cashews in the morning you wont be hungry till at least 2pm. i intend to try this out at work this weekend. i got a delllllicious piece of organic gingerbread. it was about 5 square inches and only $2. looks like a brownie, tastes like brown bread (comes in a can, u eat it with beans- also out of a can lol) i didnt realize it before, but whole foods has a premade section to die for. little containers of pasta salad and pudding and sliders for 99cents or 2/$5. i got a vegan asian noodle salad for 99cents that i plan to try to re-create. i also discovered BOCA has VEGAN meatless crumbles! i didnt know this because they arent sold at my walmarts or publix.... but they exsist! when i decided i was going to go back vegan i was sad about no more crumbles.... im pretty sure they have milk AND eggs in them. but now i know i can still have crumbles for 50cents more! im thrilled about that. i am thrilled in general because whole foods reminded me that there is a ton of vegan food to be eaten- i just need to shop somewhere that gives me the options and ingredients. if anyone would like to get me a whole foods gift card for xmas it would be a great idea :-D
right now i have a soup in the crockpot. 16oz organic vegetable broth. one package frozen "italian style" vegetables from publix. 1/2 cup dried black eye peas. 1 can unsalted all natural diced tomatoes. 2 cups shredded kale. garlic powder & crushed red pepper. should be delicious. will be 4 regular or 2 giant servings & prob cost $4 to make.
oh something else new & exciting i got! LightLife makes meatless frozen entrees that are supposed to be good for us and the planet. theyre BOGO at publix right now so i got two. not a big fan of frozen dinners but in a pickle this would be a better fast choice than pizza or chinese! im really glad i took this shopping trip today because i am excited to try new recipes this week and i hope that helps my motivation. not eating and exercising right screws up my whole life. i feel lazy and unmotivated all around quite honestly. i am even hoping to zumba on tuesday..... id REALLY like to kayak this week as well. i NEED some exercise in my life asap, thanks. i have a friend coming to town for art basel this weekend. ive already committed to drinking so i need to eat on point all week as to not fuck myself with liquid calories this weekend. i know at wet willies ill be getting the naked willie though (80 calories)!! i want to be a normal person. normal 24 year olds drink. so i need to find balance. i know ill be drinking calories this weekend and i nevvvver drink calories. until i started juicing i should say lol i am alllll about my water. so i will make up for it in healthy food and regular exercise.
im sorry i took so much time away, was just busy out of town and unmotivated once i got back. but i feel better and excited right now. hope you do too!!
