So you must know about the oatmeal smoothie trend that's happening right now. I'm sure it wasn't just invented- but the masses just got wind of it. Kind of like when pomegranate blew up, and more recently avocado. Regardless- I was interested and had one at Tropical Smoothie.
OMFG
Tasted like I was drinking a muffin. I love the texture. So good.
This is not a low calorie or low carb smoothie. It is intended to be a small meal, not drank with a whole breakfast. It is perfect for breakfast because there are carbs from whole grains(oatmeal) that'll keep you going plus its super filling.
You can add a scoop of whey protein if you're into that. Any fruit pretty much will work- ive made blueberry and banana so far. I use almond milk but soy, skim or 1% would be ok too. If you like sweet stevia or agave nectar would be good choices to add.
This recipe made with the ingredients listed is about 240calories.
What you'll need:
1/2 cup old fashioned rolling oats
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
8oz unsweetened almond milk
Blend in a blender, serve immediately. Makes 1 serving.
If your fruit is not frozen add a few ice cubes. If you're able to blend them a little before u add the other ingredients That would be smart- to get them into smaller peices. The ice will need to be blended longer than the other ingredients and you don't want your smoothie getting all soupy whilr youre trying to break up the ice!
