things are well... ive got this maintaining thing down apparently because it seems like no matter how awesome i think im doing, numbers arent moving. im not sad about it or anything because i dont really care about the number anymore, but i am wishing i could get results faster!
ive done some paying attention ever since i posted the pic of me looking pregnant post pizza and someone suggested the ever popular gluten allergy. ive been paying attention to how i look and feel after eating a lot of wheat and guess what.... im usually much more bloated when ive eaten it than when i have not. so i think its safe to say ill be jumping on the bangwagon of reducing my gluten intake. my numbers are staying the same but my look is fluctuating like crazy.... an i hate feeling 10lbs heavier because im swollen for days after making certain food choices.
i went to MA for 5 days last week. it was a good time. i didnt eat too bad at all. i went to zumba one day and rock climbing another! zumba was cool because 4 friends and my sister came along. my sister has had 3 babies in 5 years and is trying to get back on her health kick. shes always been the skinniest and most athletic in the family so its nice to see her get back at it. i was proud of her. rock climbing was the activity of choice for my best friends birthday. neither of us have done it before. we wanted to start with the 25' wall but our helper guy assured us that was for 12 year olds and took us to 35'. it was hard but it didnt feel like exercise ( my favorite). i deff broke a sweat and wished i had more broken nails because they were fucking with my grip on some of the smaller pieces. my friend made it about 25' before deciding to call it quits. i was proud of her because she was terrified of heights. next we did a few 65' walls. that was HIGH. i was dripping sweat. one wall was just not working for me, and i felt like a quitter. but then i realized id had been climbing for like an hour and my muscles were just worn out. i kept falling off the rock so i decided enough was enough for that day. i deff want to go again though!
we went to the garden grille in pawtucket,RI for dinner. all vegetarian and a lot of vegan restaurant. i ate like a cow because i wanted to try so much! vegan hot chocolate. nachos with vegan cheese and sour cream. vegan mac and cheese. white bean burger and sweet potato fries. omg to die for. i felt like it was MY birthday lol
yesterday i completed the biggest loser off road challenge! basically the Spartan Race is happening and the biggest loser picks a 5k out of their 8 mile course. you do all the same challenges. in the spartan race, if you dont complete an obstacle you have to do 30 burpees. in the biggest loser portion you can do any exercise of your choice but you have to do something still. when we were pulling up in the shuttle i was super intimidated. spartan race heats had been happening all morning so there were people running by and it was hardbody after hardbody after hardbody. i was deff feeling like the fat kid on campus. we got off the shuttle and i found the biggest loser tent and checked in. it was really cool because it was kind of an intimate experience. there were only about 50 or less people there with the biggest loser. i got to meet dan and jackie evans from season 5 again. very cool, they are super nice and such an inspiration. they gave us a little intro and pep talk and jackie was announcing that a woman there had lost 136lbs! we applauded her and they asked if anyone else had lost, a few people responded and then dan said " i know you did, how much was it?!" i couldnt believe he had remembered! i met him in fort lauderdale when i was wearing my before and after shirt and told him all about me lol i hadnt mentioned losing weight yet this time so it was really cool her remembered. i had made a friend on instagram who was also there with her best friend and husband. it was cool to meet her and see her accomplish what i think was her first 5k! which is crazy because this is a 5k on steroids lol. we also got to meet a guy who used to be 690lbs! he lost 430lbs and has competed in tons of spartan races! he was there to encourage the biggest losers. he sure did. i also found out that the guy that hosts the spartan race lost 100lbs when he was 18! he was encouraging us before our heat and told us that and i was like WOW! i had no clue and this dude is like the face of spartans at this event lol
there is a heat of 200 spartans going every 15 minutes. the biggest loser went in between 2 of the official heats, so we were running with all the other competitors. i wanted to stay with the biggest loser group as a team, but i wanted to push myself more. i would love to do it again and just stay at the pace of the majority of the group but not this time... it was my first obstacle race! i wanted to see what i could really do!
i seperated from the bulk of our group pretty early and it felt really good to catch up with sprarans who had left in the heat before me. dont get me wrong, spratans from the heat after me were flying past me too lol. the first obstacle was like a 2.5' wooden barrier you had to jump over, followed by another wooden/netted contraption you had to crawl under. there were like 3 in a row, each barricade a little higher. run a little bit and then we came to like a 4ft wooden barricade, i ran, pushed up with my arms, and fell back to the ground. but someone came up and made a step for my foot with his hands and i stepped in it and crawled over! lol it was awesome. the camera man was taking a bunch of pics at that point, but because you look pics up with your bib number, and my bib was from the biggest loser race, not the spartan, i cant look them up! so im hoping they somehow end up on the facebook account. anyway, some more running and we come up to a little river, the exact river i kayak through all the time. ive never gotten out of my boat, but today i was in the thigh deep water, fully clothed! once on the other side we ran through dirt and sand to a beach shore where the appx quarter mile path was in waist deep water. i almost wanted to swim but i felt like the more of me i could keep dry the more comfortable i would be. i soon realized that was not going to be an option lol
next we are running and end up in a path in the woods that is like 1ft wide with all kinds of branches and it goes up and down and up and down and youre climbing on roots and dirt and getting smacked in the face with branches! once we escaped that madness we came up on mile 2 which was the water station followed by just running pretty much. there were all these hardbodies running past me but i wasnt even embarassed, so many of them were like "keep it up!" and one guy was probably a trainer because he ran by me for a minute saying "thats your pace! dont go any faster or any slower, you got this!!" it was really awesome. the first obstacle i had to skip was in the 4 obstacle series in the end- climbing a rope, ringing a bell. i am not that strong yet. i couldnt do it. i did burpees. the next one was like a wall with a bunch of pegs sticking out of it and youre supposed to climb on the pegs all the way to the end. i thought "awesome! i just went rock climbing! but i was sadly mistakes lol this was WAY harder than rock climbing lol i fell off instantly and decided to do 30 jumping jacks here. next was the mud pit. i dont know how far it was, but it was frieken FAR! it was just MUD covered by barbed wire, with bails of hay mixed in and a man with a FIRE TRUCK HOSE spraying that bitch down. it started easy, stay low and move fast. but soon my sunglasses were covered and i couldnt see so i had to take them off. then i was wearing a scoop neck tanktop so mud was just filling my shirt and bra. the neck was SO low you could see my stomach lol it was a pain in the ass and at this moment i realized why people do this race half naked. clothes hold you back! People were standing along the mud pit yelling and screaming and the adrenaline is deff pumping. after the mud is a wall with ropes youre supposed to climb. I tried!! and i fell. youre trechically only supposed to try once, but i did it again since there werent people waiting yet. it was so slippery from the mud! and the military crawl is draining! i got about half way, and slipped and fell again. more burpees. the last obstacle is a bunch of spartans with those big q-tip looking things and u have to run thru them and they hit u and knock u over. i felt like they were a little easy on me lol.
then u cross the finish line :) i dont know my exact time but it was under and hour! and 5k with all those obstacles, i was proud! there was no one else in the biggest loser tent when i got there, so i either was the first or the first few people didnt stick around. either way i was glad i pushed myself, but a little envious of the people who did it with a team. doing it as a team looks SOOOO fun. does someone wanna be on my team? lol i got a bunch of flyers for up coming mud runs... one thats a "mud mingle" for singles.... which sounds like a fucking great idea since ive never seen so many delicious men in one place in my life lol and also a mud AND color run ON MY BIRTHDAY! lol
i am buying a heart rate monitor, calorie counter, sleep tracker this week! i want one SO bad! i want to know how m ay calories i actually burn doing zumba and at work and stuff! so ive made a decision to splurge. i will keep you updated. ive been researching for days!
